YVES TRUDEAU

Né à Montréal en 1930, Yves Trudeau est un sculpteur québécois, figure marquante dans la sculpture québécoise du vingtième siècle. En 1960, il est l’un des fondateurs de l’Association des sculpteurs du Québec, qui deviendra plus tard le Conseil de la sculpture du Québec. Au cours de sa carrière, Yves Trudeau enseigne à l’Université du Québec à Montréal et présente de nombreuses expositions individuelles et collectives. Inaugurée en 1986, la station de métro Côte-Vertu accueille son œuvre Relief, négatif positif, deux murales en acier inoxydable. En 1995, Yves Trudeau est reçu membre de l’Ordre du Canada.

Yves TRUDEAU

Yves Trudeau was born in Montreal in 1930, where he lives and works. After completing his classical studies, he attended the École des beaux-arts de Montréal. In the early 1960s, her work was exhibited at the Canadian Guild of Crafts, the Stratford Festival (Ontario), the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, including Toronto: the Royal Ontario Museum and at the Art Gallery of Toronto (AGO). In 1961, he founded the Quebec Association of Sculptors (the current Council of Sculpture of Quebec).

During his career, Yves Trudeau received several awards and scholarships from the Québec Research and Creation Assistance Program and was supported by the Ministère de l’Éducation. For his outstanding contribution to the arts, the Université du Québec à Montréal awarded him a certificate (1984). This recognition leads him to teaching. For several years he held a position as professor of sculpture in the Department of Visual Arts at the same institution.
