Lacerte contemporary art is pleased to present Vu de ma fenêtre – an exhibition of the artist Francine Simonin. For this occasion, the artist offers us a series of recent engravings devoted to Lake Léman, which has been central to his work for the last eight years. A lake that pursues her since her childhood in Lausanne and that she sees today from the windows of her workshop in Evian.

Its engraved lakes do not represent water, they transfigure it. Fast strokes, scratches, sighs, a dance mixing red, blue, yellow. Works where passion and virtuosity intertwine in a flow of emotions and movements.

The exhibition Vu de ma fenêtre is an opportunity to pay tribute to Francine Simonin’s outstanding contribution to the world of art and the influence of a singular career.

Born in 1936 in Lausanne in Switzerland, Francine Simonin lives and works in Montreal since 1968. During the last forty years, she presented more than two hundred individual exhibitions, mainly in Switzerland and in Canada but also in France, in the United States and in Spain. During his prestigious career, she took away numerous prices and distinctions, in particular, the Price of the first Swiss Biennial event of engraving in Geneva (1968), the Price Loto-Quebec in Montreal (1981), the Price Irène Reymond for the whole of his work in Lausanne (1986), the Price of the print in the Biennial of the drawing, the print and the paper in Alma (1993), as well as the first prize of the 16th International of the miniature print in Cadaques, Spain (1996). In October, 2004, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and the Monique and Robert Parizeau foundation awarded to her a price for his exceptional contribution to the history of printmaking in Quebec. We find the works of Francine Simonin in the collections of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée national des beaux-arts de Québec, the Musée de Genève, the Library and Archives Canada (Ottawa), the Art Bank of the Canada Council for the Arts (Ottawa) as well as several private collections worldwide.
