Ivan Binet, a photographer from Quebec City, has developed a photographic practice for more than twenty years, exploring mainly the notion of landscape. He staged places familiar to him, with which a dialogue was established in which photography took on the role of mediator. He works from points of view which lead to a loss of destabilizing spatial reference, where the line between representation and abstraction flexes to bring the viewer to a vertigo state. His works can be found in several public collections, including the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal, the Musée canadien de la photographie contemporaine d’Ottawa and the Loto-Québec Collection. The artist realized more than twenty works present in the public space with several grants for projects of integration of the arts in the architecture. In 2005, he won the Videre Award for Excellence in Arts and Culture in Quebec City. Ivan Binet lives and works at L’Ange-Gardien.
