Lacerte Art contemporain is pleased to present Autour d’objets 1986/2019 – a selection of artworks by artist Marc Garneau.

« Parallel to painting, drawing, and engraving, I have never resisted collecting objects that could be integrated one day or another in my pictorial work. Most of the time, these are small innocuous objects that no one notices. Often, these objects constitute the support of the work to come. Time gives meaning to this quest, as amalgams that form and deform, intersect and intertwine within several years. It is sometimes very difficult for me to date the final work, because its sources are multiple, its origin uncertain … wooden panels, pieces of sheet metal, broaches, rusty metals; intrinsic beauties that, for me, already have a soul.

All of this is the most intimate aspect of my art, a way of seeing the world as a transference of perpetual meaning.

These objects that I find or find me: traveling objects, surviving objects, welcomed objects. »
