Lacerte art contemporain (Québec) is proud to present the recent works of the artist Eveline Boulva, grouped under the title Errances. This exhibition brings together about ten works on paper and wood.
As a continuation of her artistic practice, Eveline Boulva uses as a starting point for her creation, various journeys and some prospections. The works thus become anchored in different territories traversed by the artist, who become, in the course of his observation, the subject of his reflections. The result is two distinct but complementary corpuses. Thus, some works present a nocturnal nature, thick and opaque evoking dense spaces where it is possible to get lost, to dream and to doubt. Other works form sprawling cities and invasive industrial structures suggesting geographical spaces constantly changing, where it is also possible to lose oneself, perhaps even to dream, but above all to doubt. To wander.
The joint themes of territory and landscape are at the center of the artistic practice of the artist and this emanates from a desire to interpret both critical and symbolic places. Indeed, when she observes a given territory, the artist seeks to deepen her understanding of the effects induced by the relationship between humans and their environment, with at the center the fundamental question of the environment.
In his works, the artist brings an empirical observation of the landscape that makes it possible to analyze and understand the specific character of the different spaces traveled, but it also expresses and expresses the complexity, the heterogeneity and the uniqueness of these territories which anchor The human in his environment, the individual in his society.
Eveline Boulva was born in Quebec City in 1976 where she lives and works. She holds a doctorate in creation from Université Laval combining visual arts and geography. His work has been exhibited in Quebec, Canada, South America and Europe. She has received numerous scholarships and has been invited by various residency programs. He was awarded the Prix Videre, an event category at the arts and culture gala in the regions of Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches in 2008. His works are part of numerous private, institutional and museum collections, both here and abroad.
