About Galerie d’art Lacerte art contemporain

Since 1974, the name of Lacerte has been associated with the art scene in Quebec. After collecting art for over 10 years, Madeleine Lacerte became a private dealer. In 1981, a first gallery was opened with a partner in Quebec City. She bought back her partner’s shares in 1986, and a year later, the gallery moved to its actual location on Côte Dinan. Her son, Louis, had then joined the gallery and he became its director in 1990. Over the years, the gallery has represented and showed the works of some of Quebec’s most influential artists, including Jean Paul Lemieux, Jean Paul Riopelle, Marcelle Ferron, Jean McEwen, Serge Lemoyne, and Francine Simonin, to name a few. Since 1996, the gallery has promoted its artists outside its walls, nationally and abroad. The gallery took part in many international art fairs in Canada, in the United States, and in Europe. These fairs included, notably, ARCO in Madrid, Art Paris, SAGA in Paris, Art Miami, Palm Beach 3, and the Toronto International Art Fair.
